What are We Doing in Interventional Radiology?

Biopsy

The diagnosis of cancer is confirmed by the evaluation of the suspected tissue in the pathology laboratory. Taking samples from suspicious tissue in conjunction with imaging methods such as tomography and ultrasound is a reliable method.

TAKE / Chemoembolization

This is the procedure in which high dose chemotherapy combined with the obstruction of the vessels supplying the tumor are performed in liver tumors where surgical treatment cannot be performed. In this case, efficiency increases and the chance of side effects decreases. Treatment is performed in the angiography room. It improves patient's quality of life and survival time.

Radiofrequency Ablation

It is the process of burning the tumor tissue with an umbrella-shaped needle inserted into the tumor tissue under the guidance of tomography or ultrasound imaging. The procedure is performed with mild anesthesia. The patient may return home the next day of treatment. It is an important option in the non-surgical patient group.

Removal of Bile and Urinary Tract Obstructions

Bile and urinary tract obstructions that occur during tumor treatment can be life-threatening. They may cause chemotherapy to be interrupted. In this case, attempts to remove the obstructions increase patient compliance and quality of life.
