Cysts are fluid-filled sacs. They can be seen in various parts of the body, including the kidney. Cysts may cause no symptoms or may result in problems such as high blood pressure, inflammation, stone, bleeding, kidney failure.
Kidney cyst is diagnosed by radiological methods such as ultrasonography and tomography. Kidney cysts may be confused with kidney cancer.
Kidney cysts are classified by age of onset of the disease, location and other symptoms. Its frequency increases by age. One-third of people over 70 years of age may have multiple cysts with a variety of sizes. In treatment, follow-up of simple cysts is usually sufficient. However, it is important to understand the nature of the cyst. It should be distinguished from familial cystic diseases and kidney cancer.
