Edema
Edema is fluid accumulation in the body and is a common problem. Swelling can be noticed in legs, hands and around eyelids. Water may also accumulate in the lungs. It is usually a symptom of a serious disease.
Diseases Causing Edema:
- Renal diseases
- Liver diseases
- Heart diseases
- Hormonal disorders
- Vascular occlusions
- Other diseases
These diseases should be investigated in patients with edema. Various laboratory investigations are required for this purpose. Before starting the treatment of edema, the disease causing edema is investigated and treatment is planned according to the underlying disease.
