Diagnosis and Treatment by Allergists
At Liv Hospital Pediatric Allergy and Asthma Clinic, the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases in children is carried out by allergy specialists. Allergy tests, blood tests and pulmonary function tests are not sufficient for diagnosis. Our trained and experienced allergy physicians evaluate the technique of allergy tests according to the complaints and examination findings and interpret the results successfully.
The incidence of allergic diseases in children is increasing every day. Studies carried out in Istanbul reported that 1 in every 6-7 children had asthma, 1 in 10 children had allergic flu and 1 in 20 children had eczema.
Liv Hospital Pediatric Allergy and Asthma Clinic aims to cause the least harm to the body in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases. Our strong infrastructure and experienced team of specialists have made the clinic an important Allergy and Asthma Unit at home and abroad.
Tests carried out at Liv Hospital Pediatric Allergy and Asthma Clinic:
Allergy Skin Tests
Skin Prick Tests are performed to detect allergens that cause allergic diseases. These tests are intended to determine the cause of allergy. Skin tests can be performed at any age, including on newborn babies.
Food Loading Test
For the diagnosis of food allergies, loading tests can be performed for foods such as cow's milk and eggs when necessary.
Drug Allergy Tests
Allergy tests and provocation tests can be performed against antibiotics such as penicillin, cephalosporin, and drugs such as local anesthetics.
A child with a drug allergy may be desensitized to allow the use of the allergen drug.
These are tests for the diagnosis of contact allergy diseases and for the diagnosis of allergies that develop differently from Type 1 allergic reactions to food allergies.
Blood Allergy (Food and Inhalant) Tests
Allergen specific IgE measurement in blood is the most sensitive, advanced and reliable method in the clinic.
Asthma Control Test
The level of nitric oxide in the child's breath is checked to see if it is under control to diagnose asthma. This test is performed with computer animation programs so that children can easily do it.
Pulmonary Function Tests
Pulmonary function tests are performed in children 6 years and older. This test is very important for the diagnosis of asthma and other lung diseases. In addition, control pulmonary function tests performed in the follow-up of patients diagnosed with asthma can be used to determine whether they benefit from drug treatment and whether the disease is under control.
Immunotherapy (Allergen Vaccine Therapy)
Allergen immunotherapy provides resistance to allergens and heals the underlying asthma and allergic rhinitis. Both subcutaneous (subcutaneous injection) and sublingual (sublingual vaccination) are applied in the clinic.
Sweat test is used to identify cystic fibrosis disease. This test must be performed for early diagnosis and treatment of this congenital disease.
Nuclear Medicine (GER Scintigraphy etc.)
Reflux scintigraphy may be required in treatment resistant cases. Reflux scintigraphy is performed at the clinic.
Radiology (Tomography, CT Angiography, MR etc.)
