Multidisciplinary Approach in Chronic Pain

In the Liv Hospital Pain Clinic, patients presenting with pain are examined in detail; diagnosis and treatment are carried out in a multidisciplinary approach. The patient is informed about the cause of the pain and the treatment plan is made according to the needs, conditions and preferences of the patient. The treatment of the patient varies depending on the cause of the pain.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia; It is a common muscle-joint pain that lasts more than 3 months, especially in the back, neck, shoulders and hips, which causes pain, fatigue and morning stiffness in the body. In the treatment of fibromyalgia, it is aimed to eliminate the pain by changing the operation of the nerve that causes pain in the trigger point with the radiofrequency treatment applied to the painful trigger points.

Low Back Pain and Treatment

Patients with pain in the back and leg due to lumbar hernia may not suffer from physical therapy. In these patients, radiofrequency current is applied in pulsed mode on the nerves which are affected by hernia and which are considered to be the cause of pain. Radiofrequency current changes the functioning of the nerve and destroys pain. The effect duration of this treatment modality ranges from 6 months to 2 years. The other reason of low back pain is the calcification of the facet joints in the waist. Pain is felt mostly in the lumbar region. Pain, which begins when the morning rises, decreases during the day; it increases again when standing for a long time. Pain is terminated by pulsed radiofrequency flow applied to the nerve feeding the facet joints.

Knee pain

Calcification and cartilage loss in the knee joints cause pain in the anterior part of the knee, especially when the stair is climbing up and down. For this reason, pulsed radiofrequency current may be applied between the knee joint and the knee-feeding nerve on the knee prosthesis surgery. After this application, patients can do their daily activities without pain for 6 months or 2 years.

Shoulder pain

Injury and tearing of the muscles in the shoulder area causes increased pain in the shoulder area, especially with the movement of the arms, and are evaluated under the name of shoulder impingement syndrome. In patients with shoulder pain, pulsed radiofrequency treatment applied to the nerve that feeds the shoulder reduces both shoulder pain and makes physical therapy sessions painless..
