Interventional Radiology
Angiography uses non-invasive modalities for diseases that are surgically treated, as it uses imaging tests, such as ultrasound and computerized tomography, to guide the treatment. Treatments are performed either in angiography room or ordinary treatment rooms rather than the operating theatre. Interventional radiology encompasses treatments for all vessels, along with coronary arteries (occlusion aneurysm, bleeding etc.), it also deals with needle biopsies and drainage of fluid collections and cysts.
- It does not generally require anesthesia.
- It is performed through a pinhole and leaves no scar in the body.
- Patients are usually discharged to home on the same day
- Procedures are easier and there are fewer procedure-related risks.
- It takes less time to start engaging in routine activities of daily life.
