Aortic Aneurysm

  • AAA (Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm) caused by weakening of aortic wall causes swelling in the vein. Unless diagnosed and treated, the aneurysm grows and explodes over time. Aneurysms occur most frequently in the aortic artery, the main vessel in the chest and abdomen.
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm is usually diagnosed by ultrasound or computed tomography. These are simple outpatient, non-patient tests. These tests are also used to determine the size of an abdominal aortic aneurysm treatment.

  • Aortic aneurysm is a treatable condition when diagnosed early. It usually doesn't give any symptoms. For this reason, it is important for people at risk to talk to their doctor at regular intervals.
  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm requires treatment if the diameter is 5-5.5 cm. The risk of explosion and existing health problems of the aneurysm should be considered before deciding on treatment. Treatment may also be necessary for small aneurysms that cause back pain or abdominal pain, especially when growing rapidly.
  • At the Liv Hospital Cardiovascular Surgery Clinic, an abdominal incision is carefully performed to remove an aneurysm and replace a synthetic graft. In the absence of any complications, most patients remain in the hospital for 5-7 days. After the patients are healed, the aneurysms are completely treated.
