Artificial Bladder

Bladder tumors, bladder cancer, the most common type of cancer in men, are malignant tumors caused by the tissues that form the wall of the bladder. Frequent urination, urination, bleeding, urinary incontinence, sudden compression occurs with symptoms such as.

Treatment of the disease in some types of bladder cancer can be achieved by removing the bladder. Patients often delay their operations because they do not want to carry bags instead of bladder when the bladder needs to be taken. When they know that there will be no such situation, they give the decision of surgery much earlier. This greatly increases the rate of recovery from the disease.

Bladder; In other words, the artificial bladder method is an operation that allows patients to urinate through the normal urine hole in order to live more comfortably. The most important advantage is that it does not reduce the quality of life and is socially acceptable.

Professor Dr. Tahir Karadeniz provides the following information about bladder cancer and its treatment:

What are the Causes of Bladder Cancer?

Bladder is a sphere-like organ that stores urine from urinary tract (ureters) from both kidneys called urinary bladder. Malignant tumors that originate from the inner surface of this organ are called bladder cancer. Bladder cancer is more common in men than in women. The main reasons are smoking and contact with chemicals in some factory employees.

What are the Symptoms?

The most important symptom is the presence of painless bleeding from the urine and the arrival of clots. Apart from this, depending on the types of cancer, continuous painful urine, while the last urinary complaints of the last burning is seen. Sometimes this bleeding may not be visible, but it is found in the urinalysis.

How is the Diagnosis Made?

Abdominal or urinary system ultrasonography can be used to diagnose the bladder mass, and can be diagnosed with upper and lower abdominal CT (computed tomography). However, sometimes with these examinations can not be said a definite thing in the video camera with a diagnostic bladder through the urinary bladder to enter the urinary bladder is made by the method of vision. After the diagnosis is made, closed TUR Tm (Trans Urethral Resection Tm) is performed by endoscopic camera.

How is TUR Tm Surgery Performed?

Accessing the bladder through the urinary bladder and removing the cancerous section with a special electrical device to take samples from all the layers of the bladder. It is performed by general anesthesia or regional anesthesia. The next day after the operation, the patient stands up and the urinary catheter is removed and discharged on the 2nd or 3rd day.

When is Radical Cystectomy Surgery Needed?

In this operation, the bladder, prostate, part of the lower urinary tract, seminal vesicles and surrounding lymphatic tissues around the large vessels are removed. It is an operation lasting 6-8 hours if done completely. After surgery, the patient can be kept in intensive care if necessary and then taken to the room. Generally, 10-14 days after discharge from the hospital is provided. This operation bladder, prostate, a portion of the lower urinary tract, seminal vesicles and surrounding the surrounding large vessels of the lymph tissues are removed. It is an operation lasting 6-8 hours if done completely. After surgery, the patient can be kept in intensive care if necessary and then taken to the room. Usually 10-14 days after hospital discharge is provided.

Why is it Important to Remove lymph Tissue and its' Count?

Perhaps the most important part of radical cystectomy is this process. Removing lymph tissues requires special training and experience. However, the number of lymph nodes removed in this surgery prolongs the life span of the patients and in the presence of cancer in lymphatic tissues, it can be clearly demonstrated how far the disease progresses or does not progress for additional chemotherapy.

How Do Patients Urinate After Bladder Removal?

The most commonly used method is "ileal conduit". Two urinary bladder (ureters) are connected to one end of a small intestine piece of 12-15 cm, and the other end of the intestine part is connected to the abdominal skin. Urine from ureters (urine tubes) into this intestine piece is packed in a bag that adheres to the skin and the bag empties as the bag fills. The bag that adheres to the skin every 2-3 days should be replaced. An important alternative to this old method is the artificial bladder method called "orthotopic bladder".

What are the Advantages of a New Bladder Surgery From the Bowel?

The most important advantage of the bladder from bowel, ie the artificial bladder method, is that it does not reduce the quality of life and is socially acceptable. It is an operation performed to enable patients to urinate through the normal urine hole for a more comfortable life. A section from the intestines is separated into a sphere and both urinary tracts from the kidneys are connected to it. One side of this new bladder is connected to the inside of the penis. The surgery is 15-18. The patient is given urine catheter removal and urinating with new bladders. It takes about 4-5 days to learn to urinate. At the end of this process, patients can empty their new bladders completely.
