Prevents Hair Loss

Chemotherapy-related hair loss is one of the side effects of chemotherapy drugs used during cancer treatment. These drugs aim to destroy cancer cells by targeting fast-growing cells, but can also affect hair stem cells. This condition often occurs as a byproduct of the treatment process and can cause patients to lose hair. Hair loss usually returns gradually after treatment ends.

Prevent Hair Loss at Liv Hospital

At Liv Hospital, a patient-oriented service is provided by using state-of-the-art cooling methods to minimize hair loss. This method reduces the amount of drug reaching the hair follicles by constricting the vessels during chemotherapy, thus minimizing patients' hair loss and supporting the regrowth of healthy hair after treatment. Liv Hospital's expert team prioritizes the comfort of patients and offers personalized care and support, as well as effectively preventing hair loss during the chemotherapy process.

What are the advantages?

The cooling method causes the blood vessels in the scalp to constrict. Thus, it reduces the amount of medicine reaching the hair follicles. When scalp temperature drops, hair cells absorb less of the drugs. This means that the drug concentration may be reduced as a result. Cooling the scalp may reduce the effectiveness of the drug, thus reducing its interaction on the hair follicles.

These mechanisms reduce the effect of cytotoxic drugs on hair follicles and, as a result, hair loss. Treatment using the DigniCap™ system is administered while drugs used to treat cancer are injected into the body. The temperature on the scalp is measured and cooling is adjusted accordingly. The patient wears a cooled silicone cap on the head. Coolant circulates through the silicone cap through DigniCap™'s air conditioning unit system.

In Case of Hair Loss

If there is excessive hair loss or bald areas have occurred; Continuing scalp cooling therapy is beneficial to maintain regrowth during subsequent chemotherapy cycles. Many patients who initially experience hair loss experience normal hair growth with scalp cooling therapy.
