When to return to normal life?

Most patients with aesthetic nose surgery can walk up to the hospital within two days and return to school or a non-exhausting job a week after the surgery. You should generally avoid movements that require high effort (running, swimming, gymnastics, sexuality - any movement that increases your blood pressure) for two to three weeks;
You should be gentle and careful when washing your face and hair or doing makeup. You can wear your contact lens when needed. But the situation is different for glasses. After the splint on your nose is removed, the glasses should not sit on the nose back until your nose has fully healed (for two months). Your doctor will frequently call you for a check-up every month after surgery to check for improvement.

Aesthetic Nasal Surgery AfterCare Guide

  • The healing process after your nasal surgery requires time and patience. Active participation in postoperative care is as important as surgery.
  • You may not be able to breathe through your nose due to the bumpers in your nose after the operation. During this period you should breathe through your mouth. Your doctor will determine how long the buffers stay in your nose.
  • It is important to get enough fluid. Your sip drink juice, water and light refreshments will help to alleviate the dryness of the mouth caused by breathing through the mouth. Do not use reed. Eat soft, easily chewed foods. Use gel or lip creams to keep your lips moist.
  • Only use the medication given by your doctor. Do not use aspirin or aspirin-containing drugs or blood-clotting drugs.
  • Keep Your Head High While Dressings
  • If there are any dressings in your nose, keep your head raised with at least two pillows while sleeping or relaxing. As much as possible, keep your head up all day long. This will protect normal blood circulation and will help to reduce the swelling after surgery.
  • There is some expected leakage from your nose. This will be pink / light red. But if you see red blood, you should tell your doctor by phone.
  • When you leave the surgery, you will have two layers of plaster and a splint on your nose. They are also important to protect your nose as well as to shape your nose. Do not touch or disrupt these dressings. It will be removed by your doctor within one week.
  • A small bumper under your nose may change as needed (or be removed and discarded if there is no bleeding).
  • Keep Hands Away From Your Nose
  • Do not rub your nose or attempt to wipe the nose. It will be a good rule for you to hold your hands over the nose. Take care not to hit your nose. Wear front buttoned clothing. Stay away from t-shirts and turtlenecks.
  • Carefully brush your teeth and use only a soft toothbrush. Do not twist your lips or try to lift your upper lip more than necessary.
  • Avoid stretching, bending, lifting heavy things (especially your young children), exerting exercises and sports for two weeks after your surgery.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for one month.
  • There may be a quantity of swelling in the surrounding tissues
  • When the dressings outside your nose are removed, you will notice some swelling and discoloration in the surrounding tissues. Your nose can be seen swollen and the tip turned up. This will improve spontaneously over time.
  • You may feel numbness at the tip of your nose and sometimes on your upper lip. This will disappear in a few weeks.
  • After removing the bumpers, you can clean your nose gently by using tap water for 2-3 times a day. Do not immerse the ear cleaning dust in your nostril.
  • Your nose will be blocked even after the bumpers are removed. This is the normal response of tissues to surgery. Do not attempt to blow your nose for a week. When you have to sneeze, you have to blow it, do it gently with both of your nostrils open. Do not use nasal sprays or drops. If you have to sneeze, sneeze open your mouth.
  • Don't neglect your appointments after surgery
  • After the dressings are taken, you can return to your normal work life (depending on the type of work you are doing). Make-up can be used to help hide small berets.
  • Be sure to go to all of your appointments after surgery. These are necessary for post-operative photographs to be taken to help your doctor to improve your recovery and monitor your nose's development and to assess the development of your nose. Post-surgery appointments are usually given 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months.
  • Do not wear glasses for two months unless necessary. Eyeglasses can only be worn when the gypsum wire is in place. After this period with a piece of tape should be hung on your forehead. You will be shown how this is done.
