About Liv
The world's first stone crushing robot, which was developed completely domestically with the support of TÜBİTAK, was used by Liv Hospital Urology Specialist Prof. Dr. Volkan Tuğcu and his team in the surgery of two patients.
2 Centimetre Stone Removed by Robot
The world's first ‘Flexible Ureteroscopy Robot’ made with the support of TUBITAK enables the removal of large stones in the kidney, ureter and urinary canal in a single session. The Turkish-made robot, which is used in Europe and the Middle East, including Germany, France and Poland, was used for the first time in Turkey on Abdullah Koyuncu (75) and Serkan Kabadayı (39) at Liv Hosqital. Kabadayı, who has a congenital anomaly, had kidney stone surgery 2-3 times before. However, this method was used because the stones were not completely removed. The 2-centimetre stone in Koyuncu's kidney was broken with the robot.
It Can Also Be Used In Patients With Recurrent Complaints
The robot can also be used for patients who have previously undergone stone surgery, regardless of whether they are chronic or not, but whose complaints recur in a short time because they are not completely cleaned. The most important feature is that the doctor can directly break the stone with the robot from where he sits. All rotation can be done and the stone is broken with laser. Under normal conditions, if the robot is not used, the patient's pressure inside the kidney is not visible. When this pressure increases, the risk of infection increases a lot. But this robot warns the doctor. In less than 45 minutes, the procedure is completed.
